Call for Entries ArqFilmFest film competition “The City Is..”

  • ArqFilmFest invites filmmakers around the world to submit short and feature films starring architecture, city or the urban environment. Entries will be received between March 12th and August 12th, 2013.
  • • The winning films, of four different categories, will be exhibited on the second version of the Arquitectura Film Festival Santiago, event to be held in October 2013.

Santiago de Chile, March 12th, 2013. – For the second consecutive year, the Arquitectura Film Festival Santiago / Arqfilmfest 2013 opens its Film Competition “The City is …”, inviting filmmakers worldwide to partipate with feature and short films.

Individually or collectively, anyone (aged 18 and beyond) can partipate in the Short Films categories: Documentary, Fiction, Animation and Experimental. For Feature Films, filmmakers can participate in the competition with documentary and fiction films.

Short of Feature Films produced before January 1st, 2010 may participate to be selected in the “Muestra” (“Exhibition”) or the Out of Competition section. Also, ArqFilmFest opens its “Work in Progress” section, allowing participants to send their films, to be selected and showed in a special section of the Festival.

Entries will be received between March 12th and August 12th, 2013. On October 1st, movies selected by the competition jury will be announced.

Winning films will be exhibited during the second version of the Arquitectura Film Festival Santiago, to be held in October 2013 in Santiago de Chile, and presented, as well, in Budapest Architecture Film Days and/or the Architecture Film Festival Rotterdam / AFFR, both prestigious film and architecture festivals to be held in 2014.

The first ArqFilmFest was held in October 2012, at the Centro Gabriela Mistral, as part of the Month of Architecture. It was the first architecture film festival of Chile and Latin America. With an enthusiastic audience of 1,700, ArqFilmFest celebrated four days of film exhibitions, symposiums, workshops and special installations.

The competition held in 2012 received over 100 film productions worldwide, 27 of them where selected for exhibition during the festival. The six winners of the 2012 competition were: “Beirut under the bridge” by Nora Niasari, in international documentary, “White Elephant” by Felipe Egaña, in national documentary, “Sizigia” by Luis Urbano, in international fiction, “NN” by Brian Luco, in national fiction, “Still Life” by Amanda Mora, in international experimental and “Interior” by Chema Arake in international experimental.
