Develop a marketing campaign concept for Sydney Design, Australia’s leading annual international design festival. This year, the festival will be held in Sydney from 3 to 18 August 2013.

Now in its 16th year, Sydney Design is an annual event that is produced by the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney in association with more than 50 cultural institutions, organisations and individuals across Sydney. A program of events including exhibitions, workshops, talks, seminars, installations and tours runs for 16 days from 3 to 18 August 2013.
The theme for Sydney Design changes from year to year. This year’s theme Design re-think asks: can clever design save the world? Can design transform, replenish and restore the well-being of our world to create a cleaner, more beautiful and more functional society? If design is ‘intelligence made visible’ how can designers re-think systems, products, environments and business models to preserve, enhance and nurture our planet and its people.
The festival’s target audience includes people with a strong interest in design and design ideas, including those working in the design and advertising industry, and students of visual arts, fashion and textiles, design and photography, media and communication.
The winning design will be adapted to a broader campaign that will be used to market the festival for the next three years. Elements of the campaign will include print advertisements (both portrait and landscape), outdoor signage, banners and brochure material. In addition, the Sydney Design website is the main source of information for the festival so consideration should be given to the design’s suitability to be adapted online.
